Abstract: Some of the first settlers in Hardwick settled along a piece of the Bayley-Hazen Road which then acquired the name Hardwick Street. This collection contains notes and and other materials about people who have lived on Hardwick Street and the buildings they built.

Biography: Sally Waters Fisher, (1918 – 2012) grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended Smith College majoring in liberal arts and then worked in the War Office in Washington during WWII. She met Ralph Fisher there, and they married in 1946. Ralph joined the diplomatic corps, and the Fishers served in Korea and then various countries in Africa. In 1975, they retired to one of the oldest houses on Hardwick Street, and Sally set about learning as much as she could about local history. She edited the Hazen Road Dispatch from 1979 to 1999.
Scope and Content: The collection contains notes and and other materials about people who have lived on Hardwick Street and the buildings they built.
System of arrangement: Arranged in four series by type of material: research notes, letters, financial documents, and miscellaneous materials.
Removed from the Collection: Photos of the Warner Family and Stage House; photos of moving the Brochu barn, 1992; Kidder House photos, 1970s; portrait of early settlers: Delanos and Warners – all moved to the photograph collection.
Two Bibles, published by the America Bible Society, 1840 and 1842; a New Testament owned by Darius Clark, 1824; A Collection of Hymns for use in the Methodist Episcopal Church… by B. Waugh and T. Mason, 1836; a Biblefrom the OxfordUniversity Press, 1873; and Sonnets, by Edward Moxon. Boston: James Finch, 1853 – all moved to the books collection.
